| Q: I already accept credit cards. Do I need another merchant account? | |
| No. All you need is an additional Terminal ID (TID) number. Your new TID will be assigned to Authorize.net, which in effect is another "terminal" for your business. For example, each check out lane at the grocery store has a separate Terminal ID but the transactions go through one merchant account. | |
| Q: What's the purpose of Authorize.net? | |
| The Authorize.net system allows your customer's transaction to be approved in about three seconds. Once an approval code is issued, the transaction is completed and the funds are automatically deposited into your bank account. (Deposits usually show up in 2-3 days.) As the leader in online transaction processing, Authorize.net also includes a virtual terminal so you can process charges using any Internet-enabled computer in the world. |
|
| Q: What happens if a transaction is declined? | |
| The customer is given the reason the charge did not go through, and is asked to try another card or correct their error. Our system sends all the customer information to you so you can follow up and try to close the sale! |
|
| Q: How do I know when someone purchases a gift certificate? | |
| You'll receive two emails from every transaction. Our system sends you an email containing everything the customer has entered in the forms, and Authorize.net sends you notification of the completed transaction. | |
| Q: Does the customer get any emails? | |
| Yes. Authorize.net sends an email reciept to the customer. You can add additional custom text to the top and/or bottom of the receipt. | |
| Q: How can I track the certificates? | |
| Each certificate can have a unique certificate number on it, which is also the invoice number appearing on the customer receipt. This number will be included in both emails you receive after a sale. You can define the number we start with, and all certificates will be numbered sequentially from there. | |
| Q: Can the appearance of the gift certificate match the certificates I issue now? | |
| Probably not. There are many factors that we can't control that make it impractical to match your certificate, including which fonts are installed on the user's system, their printer's margin settings, etc. We can replace the picture with a picture you supply, but it is important that we fade the edges to white as in the sample. We've designed a certificate that is attractive and can print well on a wide variety of printers. We'll add your company name and logo to it so there will be no doubt it is yours. By using a different certificate style you'll also be able to immediately identify an internet delivered certificate. |
Q: I don't want to spend the cash to get this, but I really, really want it. Would you trade for a balloon ride? |
| Very Funny. | |
