Troubleshooting Email Issues:


Recent SBC Outgoing Mail Port Block Resolution


Recently SBC has blocked outgoing mail port 25 for its customers. Customers are experiencing difficulty sending email. In order to resolve this, follow these instructions:

1. Open Outlook Express
2. Click on Tools --> Accounts --> Mail Tab
3. Double-click on the mail account listed *
4. Click Servers tab
5. Under Outgoing Mail (SMTP), type smtp.sbcglobal.net ---(this information may change, you may have to call SBC for outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings)
6. In the bottom section, check "My server requires authentication", then click on Settings.
7. In new popup, click "Log on using" and type in the Account Name (SBC email address, i.e. john.doe@sbcglobal.net) and Password that was to provided you by SBC global to log in to your email and internet.
8. Do NOT check "Log on using Secure password authentication".
9. Then click "OK" and "OK" again.

*If you have multiple mail accounts, you will have to repeat the process for each account.

If your Internet Service Provider blocks outgoing mail port 25, you will have to use thier outgoing mail server. If the above settings do not enable you to send mail, contact your Internet Service Provider's support department for assistance.
